Route information

Race Overview:
For 2027, the Pendine Sands Races include options for 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon only:
All of these races are Cup-Free, so please bring your own re-useable cup (available in our store).
The course:
The same course is utilised for all of the events, and is all on the beach. Turning points at 2.5k for the 5k race and 5k for the 10k race enabling a single out and back for both the 5k & 10k races. The Half Marathon completes two out and backs of the full course distance of 3.28 miles (5.28km) in distance.
Distance flag markers are positioned along the course at 0.25 mile intervals.
5k details:
5k competitors simply run 2.5k down the beach and then turn and run back to the finish, concluding their 5k race.
10k details:
10k competitors will run a single out and back of the full course, meaning that competitors will cover a total of 10.5k.
Half Marathon details:
Half Marathon competitors will run two full out and backs to complete their race distance.
The time limit for all races will be 4 hours. Start times are dependant on Tide Tables and will be notified at least two months prior to the race date.
You may think that running on the sand will be extremely difficult, but at Pendine the sands are home to the land speed record attempts made famous by the Blue Bird car. This means that generally the sand underfoot is quite firm and absolutely perfect for running on, especially for barefoot running.
Start / Finish times:Please note – exact race start times will be notified nearer the event date, as we are governed by tide-tables which are provided to us by the Pendine Beach Warden.
