Come and soak up some of the UK’s most scenic trails in this 10-mile run. As with all Run the Wild events, The Water & Windmill 10 is a guided run so you’ll get lots of useful tips along the way. Come for the striking views and to see Britains oldest post windmill.

Route information

Starting in the picturesque town of Tring, this stunning route meanders through the areas canals, waterways and reservoirs. You will run through fields, over hills, and along the water, all the time being distracted by the views of the Chilterns.
As you run, your experienced guide will give you some hints and tips on trail technique, as well as information about the local area and environment.
Running groups are decided by ability, but it's recommended that you can run 10km without stopping to undertake this course.

There are regular trains from London Euston to Tring Station, taking around 40 minutes. The station is about 15min walk to the meeting point.
By Car
There will be free car parking onsite.

Please ensure you've planned your travel well in advance so that you arrive in good time for registration and the start of the event.
Age Restrictions
You must be aged 16 years or over to enter this event. Under 18 years old, participants must have obtained parental/ guardian consent to participate.
Facilities
There will be toilets, a cafe and a bag drop at the start of the race.
Kit List
CLOTHES:
  • Wicking top and shorts or leggings
  • Socks (eg: Injinji)
  • Trail running shoes (sufficient tread)
WEATHER DEPENDENT ITEMS:
  • Lightweight waterproof jacket
  • Sun hat / cap
  • Warm hat and gloves
ACCESSORIES:
  • Fully Charged Mobile Phone including the numbers for the Lead Runners, Event Director as well as appropriate emergency services (charge before use and make sure it's in a waterproof case or bag)
  • Lightweight, comfortable running pack (max 12 litres)
  • Water Bottles / Bladder
  • Snacks to sustain you for the planned route
  • Waterproof bags / dry bags to keep stuff dry
  • Whistle (normally found attached to your bag)
  • Personal first aid kit (eg: blister packs, sunscreen, inhaler etc)

Is travel to Tring included in my Water & Windmill 10 ticket?
No, your ticket does not include travel to or from the event, any food / drink, or personal insurance.

Can I run with my dog on the Water & Windmill 10?
Dogs are generally allowed, but please visit https://www.runthewild.co.uk/contact-us and let the organiser know prior to the event. All dogs must be run in canicross equipment only, and kept on lead at all times. The event organisers will not accept dogs being run with a lead attached to their collar.
